We are aware that many of our applicants may be hoping to complete their transaction before 31 March 2021, to take advantage of the Government’s Stamp Duty concession.

The Society will endeavour to process your case as quickly as possible. However, we recommend that you encourage your client to speak with their chosen conveyancer, to let them know if they wish to complete in advance of the stamp duty holiday period ending. We are aware that certain aspects of the conveyancing process are now taking longer than usual. Example: Local Authority Searches (some Boroughs/District Councils are not undertaking new searches at the moment and a number are taking many, many weeks to complete these searches). Ultimately, such delays may lead to the house purchase taking longer than usual and potentially not being complete before the 31 March 2021.

The Society accepts mortgage applications from ALL intermediaries based within our heartland area (Cumbria, Yorkshire, Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, Durham & Lancashire).

Nationally, applications are welcomed from appointed representatives of Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB), Sesame, The Right Mortgage Network, directly authorised advisors who are members of PMS – Diamond Club and a number of selected intermediary partners.
